M2M EVOLUTION
As wireless devices such as smartphones proliferate, and as the technologies that deliver wireless Internet services such as LTE and WiMAX - see network roll-outs on a larger scale, a business deployment model known as "Machine to Machine," or "M2M," is gaining traction. Generally speaking, M2M technology brings public wireless data networks to more and more consumers and businesses, so the concept refers to deployments involving back-end servers and wireless carrier networks, as well as wireless devices. It's a complicated picture that calls for carriers to accommodate emerging business needs as they sell new data plans, yet IP communications insiders say M2M's has a huge upside in terms of market penetration.
