One Communications Names Howard E. Janzen CEO

WALTHAM, Mass. & ROCHESTER, N.Y. --(Business Wire)-- One Communications, a leading provider of advanced telecommunications solutions to businesses, today named industry veteran Howard Janzen as its new Chief Executive Officer. Janzen will assume full strategic and operational responsibility for the company with particular focus on the delivery of the company's next-generation technology platform and the expanding portfolio of value-added services tailored to the specific needs of businesses. Janzen will also be joining the Company's Board of Directors.

Most recently Janzen was president of Sprint Business Solutions, where he was responsible for Sprint's worldwide business customer base, ranging from small business to Sprint's largest domestic and international accounts. His responsibilities included integration of Sprint's wireless, wireline and local voice and data services to ensure that the particular needs of each customer segment were met. Previously he served as president of the Sprint Global Markets Group, responsible for its long distance business. He was also chairman, president and CEO of Williams Communications Group, where he led the company in completing its next generation fiber network.

"Howard Janzen completely understands how we are changing the way the industry provides service," said Kenneth D. Peterson, Jr., Chairman of the Board, One Communications. "Each business's communications needs are unique, yet there's been a void in the industry in terms of offering innovative solutions with personalized service at competitive prices. Howard's deep knowledge of building next generation networks combined with his enthusiasm for helping corporations overcome their communications challenges makes him the ideal CEO for taking One Communications forward."

"It is a great opportunity to serve as One Communications' CEO," said Howard Janzen. "With nearly $800 million of revenue, strong EBITDA margins and a conservative capital structure, this company has not only financial strength, but also advanced technologies, value-added services, and excellent customer focus. I am very excited to be part of this growing company and see great potential."

Among his accomplishments, Janzen received the 2001 Ovations award from Tele.com magazine and COMNET for Williams Communications' extraordinary achievement in technology and operations. Janzen sits on the boards for Anywhere Mobile Solutions, Comsat International, Exanet, GTT, and Sonus Networks. In addition, Janzen serves on the Governor's Science and Technology Council for the State of Oklahoma and is a Commissioner and Vice Chairman for the Global Information Infrastructure Commission (GIIC). Janzen is also co-chairman of the Resources Campaign for The Colorado School of Mines and was inducted into the University of Tulsa, College of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Hall of Fame. Janzen earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from The Colorado School of Mines and is a licensed Professional Engineer.
