ComSource, a wholly owned subsidiary of Globecomm Systems, has been awarded a one year equipment acquisition and engineering services contract from a telecommunications service provider valued at up to $11.0 million.
"This contract award represents an exciting new direction for our laboratory testing services and growth into the machine to machine (M2M) testing marketplace," said Byron Parker, President of ComSource, in a statement.
According to ComSource officials, the company has received funding in the amount of $8.6 million and the customer has an option to provide additional funding for the remaining amount throughout the contract term.
As part of the contract ComSource will provide acquisition services to acquire selected telecommunications hardware and engineering support to provide laboratory independent verification and validation testing services.
In December, TMCnet reported that Globecomm Systems Inc., a leading global provider of satellite-based managed network solutions, has won $6 million service contract from a US Government agency.
Two of Globecomm’s wholly-owned subsidiaries, Globecomm Services Maryland and Cachendo, are going to execute the contract through their joint efforts, company officials reported.
Under the terms of the 1 year contract, Globecomm will provide IT support services relating to internet connectivity via its teleport facilities, IP telephone, satellite television, and WAN optimization.
The contract also requires Globecomm to provide program management, operations, maintenance, systems development, communications, field operations support, IT equipment procurement, maintenance, storage, distribution, and network connectivity.
In the past, Globecomm has made significant investments in emerging communication technologies. This enabled the company to offer a comprehensive suite of system integration, system products, and network services developing a complete end-to-end solution for the customers.
The company claims to enjoy a competitive advantage due to its unique approach of in-house design and engineering expertise backed by a world-class global network and its 24 by 7 network operating centers. Leveraging its global network, Globecomm provided customers with managed access services to the United States Internet backbone. Anil Sharma is a contributing editor for TMCnet.
