Sprint Signs on as Platinum Sponsor for M2M Evolution

Will Showcase Machine-to-Machine Industry Leadership October 2-5 in Austin, Texas

NORWALK, Conn. – August 1, 2012 – TMC and Crossfire Media today announced that Sprint (NYSE: S) has signed on to become a platinum sponsor of M2M Evolution Conference & Expo, October 2-5 at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, Texas. M2M Evolution is collocated with ITEXPO, the world’s largest and best-attended communications and technology trade show.

According to Compass Intelligence, the U.S. market for next-generation solutions is expected to grow from 27 million connections today to over 120 million by 2017. M2M Evolution Conference & Expo, produced in conjunction with Crossfire Media, brings together experts in transportation, security, health, cold chain, automotive, and safety to discuss strategies for M2M growth, as well as the new business of proactive response centers. Technology companies, including wireless carriers, platform companies and device manufacturers, also will present and discuss their roles in creating effective technologies and procedures that work to create an ecosystem for actionable data and information.

Wireless connections are going beyond smart phones and are enabling millions of devices to be inter-connected. Our entire world is becoming more connected every day, improving the way we live, work and play. Sprint has the tools to make this happen and support the growth in the M2M field. The open platform, network leadership, dedicated support and proven experience helps get M2M ideas up and running and in the market.  Sprint has already certified hundreds of independent devices on their network – a number that continues to increase daily.

“Supporting this M2M Evolution Conference was a natural fit for us,” said Wayne Ward, vice president-Emerging Solutions Group, Sprint. “Over the years, Sprint has enjoyed collaborating with TMC and Crossfire Media to showcase the latest M2M technologies and solutions. These highly-specialized devices and software are leading to groundbreaking advancements in virtually every aspect of our lives – including healthcare, connected vehicles, public safety, retail and energy management.  Our dedicated team and open approach to M2M, backed by the strength of our network, places Sprint in a leadership position to meet this explosion of mobile information and opportunities to serve the general public and businesses alike.”

“Machine-to-machine communications has experienced tremendous growth, and is poised to continue that trajectory for the next several years as more and more vertical market segments discover and capitalize on its benefits,” said Rich Tehrani, CEO of TMC. “M2M Evolution will bring the industry together to showcase the tremendous strides M2M technologies and services are making in transportation, security, health, cold chain, automotive, safety and other industries, and we are very pleased to have Sprint joining us as a M2M Evolution platinum sponsor.”
