Christenson Transportation Picks Rand McNally's TruckPC Fleet Management Solution

Christenson Transportation, an operator of 90 trucks out of Stratford, Mo., has replaced its long-standing mobile communication and fleet monitoring devices with Rand McNally's TruckPC fleet management solution.

“Rand McNally’s TruckPC product has the features we were looking for at a competitive price,” said Don Christenson, president and CEO at Christenson Transportation.

They have just begun to scratch the surface with the potential for this product to assist the company to meeting its goals.

Christenson Transportation operates high-value shipments throughout the U.S. It sought a solution to handle remote driver training, in-cab scanning, navigation, and hours of service monitoring and reporting. The company tested its incumbent system against other major providers, and selected the TruckPC due to a robust feature set.

Rand McNally’s new-generation TPC 7600 is a full-featured fleet management system delivering critical enterprise-level features that fleets depend on to manage and optimize their business, according to company officials.

“One of the best things about working with Rand McNally is their philosophy of moving their product forward on a continuous basis, using a state-of-the art hardware platform, and updating software without forcing a hardware change-out,” Christenson said.

With the TruckPC, the company expects to drive efficiencies across operations, including fuel optimization through better route planning and out-of-route management, as well as in-cab safety training to continuously educate Christenson’s 100 percent owner-operator fleet on processes associated with loads.

The company also expects to achieve accurate load matching using vehicle location information pulled through McLeod's Loadmaster software via Rand McNally Connect software.

Rand McNally is a trusted source for maps, directions and travel content. The company’s products and services include TruckPC and the TND 760 Fleet Edition mobile communication solutions for the transportation industry.

Earlier this month, the company released the latest update to its MileMaker and IntelliRoute software, some of the commercial transportation industry's best sources of truck-specific routing, mileage and mapping.
