Deutsche Telekom and Digi International Bring M2M SIM Management to the iDigi Device Cloud

Digi International, provider of a broad range of wireless products, recently partnered with Deutsche Telekom, enabling easy access and control of remote devices used in machine-to-machine (M2M) applications in Europe. To accomplish this, Digi will integrated Deutsche Telekom's industrial-grade SIM cards into its wireless gateways and routers, while incorporating M2M SIM management into the iDigi Device Cloud.

Digi's M2M solutions are used in various applications, including connecting and monitoring remote assets such as storage tanks, vehicle fleets and solar power arrays, to name a few. As such, the company's solutions are designed to resist rough weather, movement, vibrations and extreme temperature.

Meanwhile, Deutsche Telekom's special M2M Form Factor SIM chips were designed to offer reliable usage under extreme weather and temperature conditions. Furthermore, these SIMs are soldered into place, eliminating the risk of coming loose during transit.

“We believe that with Digi’s unique wireless gateways and Deutsche Telekom’s MFF SIMs specifically designed for industrial usage, customers get the most reliable service on the market,” said Jürgen Hase, head of Deutsche Telekom’s M2M Competence Center. “With the implementation of our M2M Service Portal into the iDigi Cloud there is also full access to all necessary registration and maintenance in one place, ensuring a convenient user experience.”

Digi International's iDigi Device Cloud platform recently won "Best Overall Platform" at the Battle of the Platforms contest during the M2M Evolution conference in Austin, Texas. The platform is secure and scalable, meeting the highest standards of reliability. The accompanying iDigi Connector software allows any device to integrate seamlessly with the iDigi Device Cloud, providing instant connectivity.

Coupled with Deutsche Telekom's SIM chips, the iDigi Device Cloud platform will allow customers to manage both devices and SIM cards from one central location.

Digi International is scheduled to release its fiscal fourth quarter and full year 2012 earnings results on the first of November.
