Shodogg Releases ScreenDirect Technology for Moving Screen Content between Devices with Web-Enabled Screens

On Thursday January 17th, Shodogg announced the release of their new ScreenDirect technology that moves screen content between any web-enabled screens, including smartphones, televisions and computers. It was also announced that they had been awarded a patent for screen connectivity technology.

The implications of this technology are profound. Not only is it possible to move the content of a presentation from a smartphone to a big screen display in the boardroom, it’s also possible to move it to the big screen in the boardroom 5,000 miles away. Moving streaming video content between the web enabled devices is not a problem either.

In addition to business and entertainment use, ScreenDirect could be critical in emergencies. The ability to transmit video or a screen with a distress message to an emergency agency’s computer screen has live-saving potential.  Educational institutions can use the technology for tele-learning applications.

Shodogg uses the term, ‘agnostic’, to describe its screen movement technology, meaning that ScreenDirect will move the screen content between web-enabled screens regardless of the manufacturer or technology platform. Screen connectivity is not a brand new concept, but it required a proprietary configuration of devices all made by the same company or that used a common technology platform. In large companies, such configurations are not practical. A solution that transcends brands and platform is a breakthrough.

As far as the hardware requirements for ScreenDirect go, there really aren’t any; all that is needed is a device with a web-enabled screen. By shielding users from hardware architecture, the technology is fully scalable. This feature has great potential in online gaming, especially given that console manufacturers have developed architectures that allow one to take their gaming from home and carry it with them on portable consoles.

No files download from the host device to the receiving device during a ScreenDirect session, so malware is not an issue. IT departments will embrace this technology since it does not require cables and does not require installing software on receiving devices. Entertainment companies that distribute video will also appreciate the technology since it reduces video pirating.

Shodogg’s success in developing screen movement technology has attracted investors like RSL Ventures. It has also attracted several high profile figures from the entertainment industry as advisors including Seth Green, actor, creator and producer of Robot Chicken; Joe Titlebaum, formerly general counsel of XM and Joe Uva formerly from Univision.

Organizations and businesses from both the private and public sector are arranging licensing agreements to use ScreenDirect. Qudariga, which provides in-room entertainment systems for hotels, has developed the Personal Network Service (PNS), a solution that uses ScreenDirect technology. With PNS, guests will be able to use ScreenDirect with their personal devices and screens installed on the premises.

When the Jet Age arrived, airliners were often called ‘world shrinkers’ for their ability to transport people long distances in a short time. The Internet provided a different form of world shrinking, allowing information to be sent globally in just a few seconds. Shodogg’s ScreenDirect technology leverages the Internet in its ability to transmit screen content quickly, without regard to technology platforms or equipment manufacturer. Its usefulness can be applied in so many ways that the demand for it could be almost limitless. It may well be that in a technological sense; Shodogg has hit a ‘gusher’.
