Avnet Embedded and KORE Team Up to Help Impact the Global M2M Market

Machine to Machine (M2M) technology is gaining speed worldwide. TMCnet reported today from this week’s M2M Evolution Conference and Expo, a collocated event being held in conjunction with ITEXPO Miami 2013 that is taking place this week, some findings that reflect this anticipated global growth of M2M. Based on a recent global M2M related survey, a peak was reached in 2010 where two to five countries boasted connected products. In 2012, this peak was six to 20, and by 2014, it’s being predicted that over 21 countries will build M2M into their operations.

“M2M solutions are becoming much more critical to enterprise activities. We see the current M2M as a precursor of future M2M,” explained Robin Duke-Woolley, founder and CEO, Beecham Research at the event.

In some related and exciting news, one example of this geographical M2M expansion was revealed today by Avnet Embedded and KORE Telematics, who have made known a new alliance to offer KORE’s first rate Machine to Machine (M2M) network for cellular and satellite connectivity, according to a statement. KORE serves as the world’s largest wireless services provider specializing in M2M communications, while Avnet Embedded serves as a division of Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas, a business region of Avnet, Inc.

This agreement will offer Avnet’s customers in the Americas region – as well as those in emerging Latin American M2M markets – access to the KORE network. According to the statement, this features “the most ubiquitous and reliable connectivity in the industry.”

Those Avnet customers will be able to enjoy Avnet’s global cellular and satellite network, Global Connect, in addition to KORE’s intelligent pricing program, IntelliRate, which is based on patterns in data usage rates, the statement adds.

“With its strong market presence – particularly in Latin America – Avnet Embedded will help M2M solution providers realize the power of KORE to reliably and cost-effectively deliver their M2M applications to the marketplace,” explained Robert Metzler, executive vice president of Sales and Marketing at KORE Telematics in a statement.

He continued, “Global connectivity via cellular and satellite networks is driving M2M growth in emerging vertical markets, such as telehealth, fleet tracking, digital signage and payment processing, and our partnership with Avnet Embedded will help expand the use of the KORE network across an increasing number of global enterprises.”

“This agreement allows Avnet Embedded to offer our customers access to the leading M2M network for cellular and satellite connectivity,” also commented Chuck Kostalnick, senior vice president, Avnet Embedded. “KORE’s unmatched industry expertise and proven service and support model provides our customers with the most innovative and effective method for harnessing the power of M2M connectivity to deliver applications that drive business efficiencies and deliver new revenue streams.”

KORE Telematics is currently attending, sponsoring and exhibiting at this week’s M2M Evolution Conference & Expo, a collocated event of ITEXPO Miami 2013, a highly-anticipated, bi-annual event that brings buyers, sellers, resellers and manufacturers together to learn, grow, connect and close deals. KORE is a Gold Sponsor of the show and is exhibiting at booth #113.
