Telit's m2mAIR Business Unit Experiences Strong Growth in First Year

Global provider of high-quality M2M solutions, products and services, Telit Wireless Solutions, this week released a summary of the performance data for its m2mAIR business unit, which was established relatively recently in 2011.

This unit focuses solely on the development and commercialization of M2M value added services.

Telit released its first m2mAIR VAS offering in February 2012 as part of a global strategic partnership with Telefonica. As such, the offering was based partly on Telefonica's global M2M solutions, as well as embedded module technologies and compatible cloud and backend services developed by Telit.

In the year since that product's launch, over 300 customers have joined m2mAIR's pilot program. In fact, Telit secured over 80 commercial contracts after only nine months of pilots and sales.

Meanwhile, the 2012 edition of IMS Research's study on the M2M industry puts Telit second for worldwide module sales in 2011.

"We are delighted by the take up of m2mAIR — which is ahead of our expectations," said Oozi Cats, Telit chief executive, in a statement. "In the Internet of things, machine to machine value added services & connectivity is now being rolled out at pace. With our relationship with Telefonica and established distribution channels, we have a strategic advantage in this fast growing market — as indicated by the rapid take up by customers around the world."

Telit Wireless Solutions boasts over 12 years of experience in M2M and as such is constantly advancing and evolving technology with its six R&D centers around the globe.

Recently, the company announced an expansion to its longstanding relationship with Qualcomm Technologies with the introduction of a 4G LTE product and the development of variants for the company's top selling 3G modules in the xE910 product family.

Also recently, Telit announced that it will launch a new positioning facility called m2mLOCATE based on Rx Networks' XYBRID RT service.
