CSR attended the Mobile World Congress yesterday, flexing the muscles of its new Location Services Platform, which has state-of-the-art features like self-learning and context detection. This new solution will allow companies and consumers to use location services to pinpoint people's locations within a zone, indoors and outdoors. Airports, for example, could use this to determine where people are and dispatch them accordingly. The platform boasts the ability to determine the location of a device with an indoor accuracy of under 10 meters (11 yards).
CSR's Location Services Platform gives customers a very customizable solution to offer their own location-based services. The platform is constructed under the SiRFstarV architecture, which uses a combination of GPS, Galileo, GLONASS satellites, as well as radio systems, accelerometers, gyroscopes, and compasses. The system compiles all the data it receives and combines it with ephemeris data, mapping, cellular base station, and Wi-Fi access point data as well as any other information it can grab with the SiRFusion platform.
Anthony Murray, SVP of CSR's Business Group, said, "Since last year's Mobile World Congress, the interest level and market momentum for a seamless indoor and outdoor location has exploded. Our hybrid approach to indoor and outdoor location provides the location basis for an increasingly wide array of use cases and deployments such as automotive safety, geo-fencing, asset management, and countless others."
Demonstrations happened on the 27th as part of CSR's booth exhibition. The company also provides a number of silicone and software solutions for cloud customers. Their most famous solutions include automotive navigation systems and "infotainment," a type of in-vehicle entertainment solution that adds to the driving experience. Their technology portfolio spans a long list, from GPS/GNSS systems to broadband receivers, to CVC audio codecs. Their brand has focused significantly on automobiles, computers, and location services.
